Kelly O’Connor McNees

As an experienced legal-industry content strategist, I understand the power of well-executed content to communicate expertise, burnish attorney and firm brands, and motivate prospects to engage with your firm.

Prior to founding KOM Content, I served for several years as Director of Content for Chicago-based Page 2 Communications, a boutique legal PR agency serving AmLaw 100, midsize, and boutique law firm clients. The National Law Journal named our agency Best of the Midwest for Legal PR three years in a row, placing us in the NLJ Hall of Fame. Clients value the exceptionally high quality of the work I deliver for their firms. They also appreciate my responsiveness, professionalism, adaptability, and persistence in working with busy attorneys.

I am a seasoned writer and editor with two decades of experience across multiple roles in publishing and communications. I spent many years in editorial roles in book publishing, including in-house positions with HarperCollins Publishers and the University of Michigan Press and founding and running an independent editorial consultancy that served authors and other publishing professionals.

Alongside my corporate content work, I am the author of award-winning novels published by Penguin and Pegasus Books and favorably reviewed in The New York Times, Publisher’s Weekly, Library Journal, and many other publications. My writing has appeared in Time, The Washington Post, The Toast, The Millions, Lenny, and in Rust Belt Chicago: An Anthology. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in education from DePaul University.
